To be honest I use to be a little brat when I was young, so my brother in law got me started in my Martial Arts Journey training in Muay Thai as an outlet at the age of 13… I trained all the way till I was 20 having a few full contact amateur fights along the way but because I was talented in many sports I decided to pursue Rugby...
After many years away from Martial Arts I moved to Australia, a couple of years later my Rugby League Coach who would soon be my close friend introduced me and about 12 other guys to BJJ/ MMA at the end of 2010 for pre-season training in Rugby League… I was instantly hooked! out of 13 of us I would be the only one to continue, I’d only train 3 to 4 months of the year for the first 3 years before retiring from League and taking on BJJ full time…
Out of everything I have done and achieved in sports, the Art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been the most challenging and yet rewarding and has truly changed my life OSS!!!

Question: What will you suggest to the newcomers?
Answer: Don’t stress… One step at a time… One move at a time… You have to crawl before you walk
Question: What does it mean for you to be a fighter?
Answer: To be honest not much, But to protect Family?... Everything!!!
Question: What are the essential things for the training?
Answer: A strong body and mind!!!
Question: What separates you from every other fighter in your division?
Answer: Perseverance, determination and a will to win
Question: What is the meaning of success in your mind?
Answer: Peace of mind attained only through self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best

Answer: Palhares… it would be an epic experience to go toe to toe with a leg specialist
Question: Is there any difference b/w your common days’ diet and during competition training diet?
Answer: Nope!!! it’s all the same
Question: How does a beginner will prepare for the competition? Any advice for beginners?
Answer: First timers enjoy the experience, have fun and do your best
Question: How is it helpful to have the information about your competitor?
Answer: Take it as an advantage… An upper hand is always helpful
Question: Is the martial arts necessary for a common person? How?
Answer: Yes, there’s many benefits, it’s a great way to learn new skills and develop not just physically but mentally all in one go… e.g. Self Defense, confidence, focus and awareness, make new friends, reduce stress because you have an outlet, personal health and improves character
Question: Which moment is memorable for you in your past competitions?
Answer: First Gi match at the Queensland State Champs 2017 was against a guy who dominated his division and then moved up to the open weights, was prepared for a difficult roll until he broke his finger one minute in… that was a lucky break
Question: How do martial arts help to build a leader?
Answer: With the training it builds confidence, self-esteem, physical and mental toughness

Question: How is the road plan necessary for any competition?
Answer: It’s the best way… plan, visualize and execute

Answer: Go hard or go home!!!

Answer: A lot, if you look and feel good… you fight awesome

Answer: Floyd Mayweather today… Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard!!!

Answer: ‘Mark Hunt’… He’s straight up and he’s real, he proves that you don’t have to have the muscles, flashy moves or the looks to be an awesome fighter!!!!
